Is Park West Reliable?

General

As many of you know, I go on cruise vacations several times a year and consider myself to be a bit of an expert on all things cruise related. It comes as no surprise when I get questions on not only where to find the best deals for cruises, but also about specific amenities and services once on board. I do my best to answer everything I can in an objective and for the most part, helpful manner and one name that keeps cropping up (which I struggle to find anything nice to say about) is Park West. In particular, the question Is Park West Reliable? Now, I expect this will lead to a flood of e-mails defending Park West from a selection of my loyal reader base but in my opinion, they’re not worth defending.

Now, I am all for people getting the most out of their cruises and I’m all for the variety of services on board today’s liners, but Park West Auctions is something I can definitely do without. Admittedly, I’m not the biggest fan of art in the world and certainly wouldn’t be parting with my hard earned dollars to make a purchase but I have witnessed a hell of a lot of people do so and it angers me to know that they’re literally throwing their money away.

It is well documented, particularly online that Park West over price their items. There are so many documented cases that it’d take all week to cover a tiny percentage. People are paying well over the odds for their items according to findings online and have no come back with the auction house afterwards. It’s a shady business.

So, to those who ask, no, Park West is not reliable and I’d suggest spending your time on board enjoying yourself than paying over the odds for already high priced art.
