For the most part, cruising during the winter months is out of the question. Unless you’re considering cruising around coastal Asia. Typically, at this time of year, people look to major city destinations such as Paris, Madrid, Rome or Prague for a winter break with a few of us opting for some winter sunshine. The Christmas Markets found in most major European cities at this time of year are a particular attraction to tourists as are the many cultural offerings such as Christmas theatre musicals and shows. Of course, not all of us enjoy the city scene and want to simply get away from the cold, dull UK and catch some winter sun. Destinations such as Italy, Spain and Portugal are always popular at this time of year, mainly because they’re slightly warmer than the UK but more so because you get a chance to enjoy the resorts without them being full of the usual mix of summer tourists. Villas in Spain are a particularly favourable option for Christmas tourists in particular who are looking for a little bit of privacy as are Algarve Villas on the south coast of Portugal if you have taken as much of Spain as you can.
