The Importantance Of Learning The Local Language

General

Learning a new language, for fun, is becoming increasingly popular. Around 10 years ago, people used to go to various travel destinations, particularly the British and expect everyone else to speak English and show no interest whatsoever in picking up the local language. I have heard of families in the United Kingdom who have been going to the likes of Spain for the past 25 years and can still only speak less than 10 words of Spanish. I find this quite appalling. Luckily, these days, as a society we’re more open to new cultures and you often find newer tourists of the next generation taking the steps to try their hand at speaking the local lingo, if nothing else but to impress their friends. You can learn Spanish quite easily these days with the vast amounts of learning programs and books out there. In fact, some tutorial firms claim that you can start speaking Spanish within the first day of the course. Learning a new language is also a great way to understand the culture of the country and can make your holiday a lot more fun if you can understand what the locals are saying. It may lead to you being accepted a little more also.
